Essential Functions

Responsible for the establishment, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the standards and policies for the programs of the Facilities Departments, including maintenance, grounds, painting, housekeeping, laundry, security, transportation and security, and sustainability efforts and programs that are in compliance with established federal, state and local regulations, life safety, CARF standards and communicates with regulatory/licensing agency representative as required. Actively participates in senior management and management team meetings.

Responsible for the development and implementation oversite of strategic plan, master planning and ongoing assessment as it applies to the Facilities, Housekeeping, Laundry and Transportation departments, including a replacement program that addresses buildings, major equipment and systems, and property. Participates in and supports an ongoing and effective safety program.

Coordinates projects, completing projects on time and on budget. Manages project team activities. Responsible to provide oversight, as required, to competitive bidding processes involving capital improvements to buildings and property. Negotiate and award service contracts as required to ensure proper maintenance of property and buildings.  Responsible for developing the staff of the Maintenance, Grounds, Painting, Housekeeping, Laundry, Transportation and Security through continued education and in-service trainings. Advances the cultural and ethnic diversity of the departments. Completes all required in-service and other training programs necessary to maintain attained certifications. Participates in and/or chairs committees. Motivates, develops and coaches all department staff by meeting formally and informally with team members to listen, to get to know them and observe their performance.

Effectively communicates changes and progress of projects and facility operations with residents, team members and vendors, choosing the message appropriate for the audience. Acts as a liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy agencies. Has a focus on sustainability, efficiency and compliance.

Functions as a first responder and crisis team conveyor in emergency situations.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Sciences or related field. Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in a Facility Management and supervising staff capacity with a strength in Mechanical, Electrical, Life Safety and Fire Protection Systems. Health care experience is a plus with strength in Environment of Care. Knowledge of fire, safety, and security systems, codes, and regulations. Background including budgeting, personnel management, construction management and LEED preferred.
